Cabinet reshuffle

Premier Weatherill recently announced a reshaping of his Cabinet and Ministers, including the promotion of Peter Malinauskas MLC and Leesa Vlahos MP. The resignation of Gail Gago MLC as the Minister for Skills also heralds a changing of the guard for the Vocational Education and Training portfolio.

Mr David Cockram, Chair of the Industry Training Provider Association (ITPA) said;

… with this reshuffle ITPA was very pleased to see Dr Susan Close MP has been appointed as the Minister for Higher Education and Skills. Dr Close comes in to the portfolio with an understanding of the VET landscape, in particular she has good relations with ITPA members and an appreciation of the work of RTOs in SA.

Dr Close will service this portfolio alongside her current portfolio of Education and Child Development.

We look forward to meeting with Dr Close to enhance her current understanding of the sector and working with her on skills promotion going forward in SA,

said Mr Cockram.

This cabinet reshuffle follows the Liberal Shadow Cabinet reshuffle that happened recently. In this reshuffle, Corey Wingard MP picked up the Employment portfolio, whilst David Pisoni MP retains the Skills and Training Portfolio.
